Privacy policy: Rentals by Beacon for Shopify

Last updated November 1, 2026. Rentals by Beacon ("the app", "we") is a Shopify app that takes rental bookings in a store's cart and checkout. This page says what the app stores, why, and for how long.

What we store

• About the store: the shop's domain, time zone, currency, contact email and plan, and the rental rules the merchant sets (prices, lengths, opening hours, questions).
• About bookings: for each rental in an order, the dates, quantity and amounts, and the customer's name, email, phone number and delivery address, plus their answers to the merchant's booking questions.

Store and order details come from Shopify through the permissions the merchant grants at install. The answers to booking questions come from the booking form on the product page, which sends them to us when the customer adds the rental to the cart. The form sets no cookies and uses no trackers, and we never sell or share data for advertising.

Why

To show the merchant who booked what and when, to keep two customers from booking the same unit, and to let the merchant reach the customer about delivery and pickup. Customer details are used for nothing else.

Where it is kept

On our server in Oracle Cloud (United States), on an encrypted disk, behind HTTPS. Emails to the merchant (for example a double-booking alert) are sent through Google's Gmail service. Shopify processes the store's own data as usual.

How long

• Holds that never became an order are removed once they are 30 days old (the next time the store takes a booking).
• When a customer asks Shopify to erase their data, we blank that customer's details on the store's bookings.
• When a store uninstalls the app, Shopify tells us 48 hours later and we delete everything we hold for that store.

Your rights

Customers should contact the store they rented from; merchants can see and export everything in Shopify and in the app. For anything else, or to have data deleted sooner, email jeff.helpsupport@gmail.com.
